Question

How to set up a global server that can connect to services like Photon?

Hi, i use a droplet to test some server functionality for a game that uses Unity & Photon to work. Photon is a multiplayer service and to work properly the game has to connect to this service.

It seems when i start the game in an headless mode which works fine locally it does not work with the droplet. The server and the game is starting correctly but nobody can connect to the server because it is not listed in the game lobby. I think something is preventing the Server to connect to the Photon Service. I tried to shut the Firewall off or to allow specific ports but it does not seem to change anything when i test those ports with the server console.

Anyone else having similiar problems?

Hi @camouflagedpenguin,

There could be a couple of reasons but the one I would stick to would be the Firewall.

Having said that, you did mention you’ve turned off the Firewall, and still nothing.

In that case, you might need to register somewhere in the said game in order for your server to appear in the lobby. There might be a guide on said game’s forums.
