I’m trying to host my portfolio website. The body of the website is plain HTML/CSS, and I also have eight portfolio projects that I’d like to host either using subdomains or subdirectories. Technologies for these projects are HTML, CSS, JS, React, PHP, and Laravel. I’m trying to save money by using a $5/mo droplet.
Please bear with me because I just signed up for Digital Ocean yesterday, so I’m a newbie with cloud computing. I have shared hosting which uses Cpanel (where file manager is very convenient). Are Digital Ocean droplets similar? Any great resources that I should look at to get started?

Hi there,
Yes this is possible with a $5 Droplet. If you are planning to use Apache you could follow the steps here on how to setup multiple websites on the same server:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-apache-virtual-hosts-on-ubuntu-18-04
If you are planning to use Nginx rather than Apache, you could do the same thing with Nginx Server Blocks as described here:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-nginx-server-blocks-virtual-hosts-on-ubuntu-16-04
If you prefer using a server control panel, you could use a free one like this one here which you could install with 1-Click:

Hope that this helps! Regards, Bobby
