Question

How would I setup server using 1&1 domin name?

Hi, I have recently registered a domain name with 1&1 which is very basic package that does not even provide any FTP server. Can I use Digital Ocean vrp hosting server keeping my 1&1 domain name without transferring/cancelling it with 1&1? I can not transfer the domain as there are some conditions attached to transfer the domain ( i.e 60 days) name. I do not want to cancel it either as I may not get back my domain name back in short time. If it is possible, please let how would set up the server in Digital Ocean using 1&1 domain name.

Thanks Rash

As far as I know that we only need to add the name servers in domain and rest is done by hosting provider. In my case, I am using Droplet but it is not working.

I wish I could show the screenshot but there is no option. If you want to take multiple screenshots on a single click, please try https://screenshot.hexerve.com/

@mrashedahmed Login to you 1and1 Dashboard. then click on Manage Domain on your right then click manage DNS settings as shown in the image bellow

If 1&1 sells Domains, they must have a “Domain Control Panel”. Simple go into that panel and point the servers to a droplet (point to its ip). Use the guide here. Its 90% the same for all DNS providers. If something is unclear you can always contact 1&1 support to help you out.
