Hello @geobouwmeester,

AMS2 Datacenter is one of two DigitalOcean data center infrastructure located in Amsterdam or Netherlands. It has few services available compared to other facilities in the region, which includes:

  • Droplet plan: Basic (Limited availability)
  • Other cloud services: Load balancers

AMS3 Datacenter is second cloud infrastructure in Amsterdam or Netherlands. It has larger product range compared to AMS2, which includes:

  • Droplet plan: Basic, General purpose performance, CPU-optimized performance, Memory optimized performance
  • Managed Database availability: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis
  • Other cloud services: Kubernetes, block storage, object storage, load balancers

Hope that help you,

Sergio Turpín

Hello @geobouwmeester

DigitalOcean additionally has 4 legacy data centers: AMS2, NYC2, SFO1, and SFO2. We have restricted resource creation in legacy data centers because there is no remaining physical space to expand within those data centers. Users who have existing Droplets in these data centers can continue to create additional Droplets there.

To create Droplets in these geographical regions, we strongly recommend using AMS3, NYC3, and SFO3.
