Posted November 13, 2014 3.2k views

Hi I just signed up and created my droplet, However I’ve installed OwnCloud on my CentOS Server and for some reason can not login via —–> ipaddress/owncloud
Any help would be great I get this each time I try to login
Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at {ip address}

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

It sounds like the webserver isn’t running. Did you install Apache? Make sure to start it (sudo systemctl start httpd.service) and enable it to automatically restart on reboot (sudo systemctl enable httpd.service) You might want to checkout this tutorial:

How To Install Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP (LAMP) stack On CentOS 7

Have you set up any firewalling? If so, make sure that you open ports 80 and 443 for accessing OwnCloud over HTTP and HTTPS:

sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=http
sudo firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=https

The tutorial “Additional Recommended Steps for New CentOS 7 Servers” covers this and more.

Any additional information about how you installed OwnCloud would help us track down your issue.

In this guide, we'll get a LAMP stack installed on an CentOS 7 VPS. A "LAMP" stack is a group of open source software that is typically installed together to enable a server to host dynamic websites and web apps. This term is actually an acronym which represents the **L**inux operating system, with the **A**pache web server. The site data is stored in a **M**ySQL database (using MariaDB), and dynamic content is processed by **P**HP.
  • Hi and thank your for your directions, I can’t seem to figure out how to open port 80 and 443, I’ve enable httpd and firewall
    When I run firewall-cmd –permanent –list-all it shows no ports . TY for the help!
