Hi, I currently host my wordpress site here: https://wphosting.com.au/dedicated-servers/ and pay $349/month in hosting. It’s costly but has worked well because they have great customer service and are local, so when things go wrong, they are on the phone straight away and fixing the problem.
I’m looking to move to DO and wondering what plan would be suitable. We currently run on NGINX and with 2 CPUs, 100GB Storage and 2GB RAM. We generally don’t use the CPU but have peaked at 80% of the memory lately with spikes in traffic.
Any help is appreciated.

2000 visitors a day is 1.3 visitors per minute, the smallest package is more than enough.
While 2k visitors a day is not much for Nginx, php is not the same, also obviously you don’t have 1.3 visitors per minute, you have spikes of traffic and that’s what you need to take care about it. That being say you can use a small droplet, maybe 1GB if you can pay it (which I’m sure you can), but make sure to implement caching solutions to your site (Cloudflare -> Varnish -> Nignx -> PHP-FPM -> Total Cache -> WP.
Also use OPC for SQL query cache and if possible try Percona (MySQL) with innodb (no table blocking).
