Question

Inquiries about server resources

Hello, I have some questions

We have this server of ours server inside digitalocean

Specifications

16 GB Memory / 8 Intel vCPUs / 320 GB Disk / FRA1 - CentOS 7.6 x64

It has a project that is an online store. We want to make an advertisement for the store with a famous Snapchat

She has about the number 1.40 M Followers

Any high probability that the server will fall due to the high level of user loads of entry

Will there be problems when users enter the store ?

What advice do you have for us in a matter like this?

Should I upgrade the server resources or what is the solution?

My greetings

Hey @matajerappmail,

It’s really hard to pinpoint the exact traffic and how much resources it will take. All this is based on the optimization of your Droplet and Application.

What I’ll recommend is to try optimize both your Droplet and Website by adding caching servies and plugins, optimize loading resources by lowering their number or size and similar solutions like that. You can check the following link:

https://pagespeed.web.dev/

Having said that, depending on the traffic even these optimizations might proove to be insufficient. In such cases, an upgrade will be what’s needed. However, I’ll advise against upgrading straight away and only doing it once it’s necessary as it can be done in a matter of minutes.

Hi @matajerappmail,

It’s hard to say if the server will be able to hold the load. These stuff depend on how well your App is optimized, how well your Droplet is optimized and so on.

What I’ll suggest to you firstly, is to add SWAP space as another layer of prevention/help for your Droplet:

Additionally, you can always upgrade your Droplet if needed but I don’t think it’s needed at first, only if there are problems.
