I have installed and configured BIND9 on a ubuntu server and is working locally but using nmap from externalshows that port 53 for DNS requests is not open. How do I request that.

Hey @malrixon,
Have you allowed your IP address? Additionally, have you tried using telnet to connect to the port? If you have can you connect or does the connection time out?
As for seeing the port, sometimes you cannot determine whether the port is open because packet filtering prevents its probes from reaching the port. The filtering could be from a dedicated firewall device, router rules, or host-based firewall software. These ports frustrate attackers because they provide so little information.
Fixed the problem thank you. Because I could contact the server on http and SSH the thought that another firewall had to be configured didn’t occur to me. Sorry about that. Went into network and configured the firewall to allow DNS and all is good now.
