Question
is DO inappropriate for Running a Production Site?
One of my clients wants a fast host. I want to set her up on DO, but she says DO is for developers. I told her DO is for people who don’t need fluffy customer service.
Where do DO users go to make their projects live, if not here on DO?

Sure. As long as you are aware of what that involves: you are the administrator. If your server crashes, then you must have backups in place. If MySQL crashes, you should know how to restart it.
Basic hosting accounts (in theory) take care of much of that for you. If something goes wrong you complain to tech…they fix it and your website is back up.
Having your own server in DO means more responsibility, but quite honestly, I am finding faster speeds , lower prices and more control using DO than I was using [a popular web-hosting company].
However, I have enough know-how to be comfortable running Ubuntu servers.
