Question

Is it necessary to join the partner program to be a reseller?

Getting StartedDigitalOcean

This is the question I ask since I do not have a company, and I would have to invest a name to be able to associate and I do not think they will allow me to do that. I don’t use my account so I have no problem using it for this purpose.

Once I have enough capital I can create a company for this

Hello,

You don’t have to join the partner program. You could use the DigitalOcean API to automate your server provisioning for your clients with a regular account.

Or alternatively, you could use a billing system like WHMCS or HostBill which both come with DigitalOcean integrations.

Hope that this helps.

  • What is the limit of droplets that an account can have? Because my idea is to create a “master” droplet that has the whole administration theme where my clients connect to my service and all that.
If someone rents my services I will create a slave droplet that will be the one that the client bought more extra features

    • Hello,

The default limit for a fresh new account is 10, but you can request an increase for that directly via your DigitalOcean control panel.

You can request a Droplet limit increase via your DigitalOcean Control panel. Then go to ‘Settings’ -> ‘Profile’ -> And hit the 'Increase’ button.

After you’ve submitted the form, it will then be passed on to DigitalOcean’s support team for review.

If you’re having a limit of less than 25 the option to increase the limit to 50 should work instantly and the limit will be increased to 50 droplets.

      Hope that this helps!
      Regards,
      Bobby

      • Ok, I suppose that if I wanted to have more than 50 droplets, for example x number I would have to contact you right?
        Thanks for the help

        • Hi there,

Not me personally as I don’t have that kind of access. But you would need to fill-up the form again and then the support team will review your request and increase your limit.

          Regards,
          Bobby
