kernel recommendations: generic to virtual

Posted on December 4, 2014

Hi, I’ve two 512mb droplets with virtualmin running several virtual servers, and i’ve noticed a great difference in memory consumption, they’ve different kernels:1 xx-virtual and one xx-generic. The question: wich kernel do you recommend to ubuntu 12.04 x64? Must I migrate from vmlinuz-3.8.0-x-generic to vmlinuz-3.2.0-xx-virtual? Thanks!

This question was answered by @ryanpq:

I would recommend against downgrading your kernel as newer versions often include security patches over previous versions.
