Login from a different machine with different user/ssh key

Posted on June 26, 2018

Hello

I’ve read some posts, but still can’t figure this out.

On my linux pc, I can login as root with ssh (without password), and also created a non-root user (who also logs in without password).

On my windows laptop, I want to create another non-root user with ssh (I believe it’s better in case the laptop got stolen to have a different user/key). But I don’t know how to do this?

Thanks for any help

Hello,

You can follow the steps here on how to create a new key on your windows machine and how to add it to your droplet:

https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/droplets/how-to/add-ssh-keys/create-with-putty/

Then you can connect to your droplet with putty by following the steps here:
