MongoDB + DO's Volume = Data lost, Anyone have experienced on this?

Posted on December 15, 2021

I’m placing the dbpath of Mongodb inside the mounted volume in a droplet.

My dataset size at a time snapshot is 95GB.

I’ve resized the volume from 100GB to 200GB

Then resize the partition following this guilde

After resize it worked… For a while.

But at some point, After I simultaneously insert >50GB within a couple of hours, The whole data was lost, and free space get back to 100% which is 200GB…

Anyone has encountered this situation?

This happened to me seconds time in a day.

I’m not even sure if this is the issue with DO volume or MongoDB.

This is very frustrating. I feel so lucky this is not the production server but feel unable to trust… I don’t know DO or Mongo…

Hi there,

If you run df -h do you see the volume still mounted on the Droplet?

Also, do you see any errors in the Monogo log after running the large insert?

Best,

Bobby
