Monitoring and scaling platform

Posted on May 24, 2013

Hello,

For a website of mine i want to use digitalocean as a high availabilty platform. A cluster with a loadbalancers, webservers and database servers. To automate scaling of extra webserver nodes i searched around for some solutions. None brought me a good and affordable solution

So i’m starting up a new project to monitor servers and to automate some things around it. Some features:

  • Monitoring (cloud)servers (ping, mysql performance, cpu, memory, disk space, etc.)
  • Alerts when indicators thresholds are reached (email, iphone & android app)
  • Actions on alerts (webhooks, digitalocean API calls)
  • Grouping of servers and specific alerts and actions for each group

This way you could create, for example, an autoscaling group of webservers etc.

Are people here interested in such a solution? Would you want to pay for this? For example 5$ a month for the first 10 servers.

Regards, Wouter

we’re also looking into building something like that for internal use, but if there is an existing service out there that works with DO, I’ll be happy to try it out.

Good to hear. I’l keep you updated through this forum. Love hearing your ideas and suggestions if you have them!
