What is the reason for this report?

My account is locked - what to do?

Hi -

Today, I was leading a small class of students and was hoping to teach on servers. I was under the impression they would be able to create an account and have some credits to apply towards doing something like running a server.

I had them navigate to this link and create an account - https://www.digitalocean.com/landing/do-for-higher-education. But much to my dismay, they were required to enter some credit card information, to which some of them were hesitant.

So I, foolishly I might add, promised that they wouldn’t be charged and if there were worried, they allowed them to enter my credit card info since I figured they’d likely never use all of their credits or were trustworthy enough to switch the account over to their own card if they continued.

I created a new account as well, to demonstrate the process. And then, almost immediately after entering my CC info, my new account was locked. I figured it was because a number of us tried to enter my CC info at the same time 🤦🏻‍♂️.

Anyways, I hope this can be resolved as I am a happy customer and was hoping to spread the word to my students.

Yes, it’s quite possible the multiple accounts had the reason behind the block. Anyway, contacting DigitalOcean’s support should clear that, there is no need to worry!
