my droplet hacked !! need tips

Posted on March 16, 2014

I know may there some bugs or exploite in scripts that running in droplet allow hacker to join and play. but i think my droplet need more secuirty, so I tried to secure droplet (running php and apache & link with pagespeed of google) by common methods :

install mod_security install ufw save mode (now active) active user_dir disable functions php disable ssh for root and port changed.

But hackers (Script kiddie) come again and hacked droplet, they just change template for index page, but other page you can browse well.

please share your tips :

1- service for security. 2- methods for security that restriction hacker (nobody) from change file or execute command or play with php.ini to allow safe mode …etc 3- great tool can view logs for hacker from where come.

I’m interest for paid service that help me for security and save my time.

Thank you

Could you share info on how they got in/what vulnerability they exploited? Also, what you were running for your website/app front-end?

i suggest you to turn on 2 step verification from your droplet <br>i also suggest you to use phpguard v2, i tested this on my local pc and it really protects you against hackers etc it cost 30$ <br>

Have you heard of https://www.platinumservermanagement.com? I just found out about them and they look pretty solid. I’m not affiliated with them in any way, but they offer a service for US$30/month which looks pretty comprehensive. It might suit your needs.

I need this as well, I have just discovered these Droplets and I’ve set up a few and they look good, but I have questions around the security and what I need to do to lock them down myself.

Cheers, Simon
