My Node app not pointing to my IP Address

Posted on September 10, 2014

Alright I worked on troubleshooting this for a whole day, trying to get my Node app to be accesible via the browser but to no avail.

when I start my node via command line, it runs successfully on port 1100, but I cannot access either on my IP_address:port or domain: treck.co via the browser

this is my nginx config file

/etc/nginx/conf.d/boxedsales.com.conf

server {
listen 80;

server_name treck.co;

location / {
proxy_pass localhost:1100;
proxy_http_version 1.1;
proxy_set_header Upgrade $http_upgrade;
proxy_set_header Connection 'upgrade';
proxy_set_header Host $host;
proxy_cache_bypass $http_upgrade;

}
}

I have restarted nginx and also rebooted my droplet. Still cannot access when I visit on browser.

The node app is in directory /var/www/

Thanks

Hi!

Assuming treck.co is your actual domain, scanning it for open ports with nmap treck.co doesn’t show port 80 being open. Is Nginx currently running? Have you set up any firewalling? If so, remember to open port 80.

On the droplet, what’s the output of sudo netstat -plunt ?
