I setup a LEMP droplet using the digitalocean one click-apps. Then, I sshed into the droplet, and was able to login as root and reset my password. However, whenever I try to use “mysql -u root -p” and type in my root password, it fails to login. I’ve tried creating a new user, and then using “su” to get into that user, and then run the “mysql -u newuser -p” but still the password doesn’t work.
What am i doing wrong?
Thanks!

The MySQL root user’s password is not the same as your droplet’s SSH root password. If you access your droplet via ssh or the console in the control panel your MySQL root password should be included in the MOTD displayed when you log in.
Hi I am facing a similar issue: I have just deployed a droplet, installed Wordpress with a one-click app and now I can’t login to mysql -u root -p. What is the default password for the root user? Many thanks!
