New Droplet (of a snapshot) - New Domain - Still loading files old domain

Configuration Management DNS CentOS
  1. I have a website running on a droplet (Centos, LAMP) with the domain ""

  2. I made a snapshot of this droplet, spun a new droplet (let's call it Droplet2) using this snapshot

  3. I like to use a different domain for Droplet2, the new domain is

  4. I have edited the virtualhost file and when I go to the website resolves perfectly but

...yes here it comes

It seems that a lot of files are still loaded from the old server/domain

ex. a js file is still loaded from and Not from as it should

Q1 Could this have something to do with a wrong Virtualhost setting

Q2 What could be another reason for this behaviour?

Any hint on where I should look would be super. Thanks so much.

And, if I missed providing crucial information, please let me know. I'm in a rather steep learning curve

I was able to get my DNS to update almost instantly using opendns when I changed nameservers. I went here to force the updates Just in case you want to try ruling out waiting 72 hours or however long it could take to change over.

There can be couple of things,

First is the DNS settings, make sure the domain 2 in DNS panel of DO is set to resolve to that droplet 2 IP address.. If you have done that and still problem then wait for your local ISP DNS to update, which may take a while (Theoretically upto 72 hours)

Secondly, since you restored from snapshot may be the old files and database has entries of domain1 hence when your browser is loading it is getting redirected to those where the server files still point or read domain1 data.. So edit those where needed..

Thanks very much all for the feedback

@hunky I checked old files but the database is indeed something I haven't touched yet (also because pretty new at that)

@travanx Thanks for the tip, will try to force the updates
