I help out someone running a separate DO account in addition to my own and I check his logs - same thing. So, this is on two entire separate accounts, so it can’t be anything except a system-wide problem. But no warning or blog post? I know it’s not a great cost in comparison to some backup services, but 13 days is a LONG time to go without backups when you’re relying on them.
