Permission problems upgrading Redmine from 3.4 to 4.0

Good day!

I am updating an old 1-click installed Redmine instance from version 3.4 to 4.0. This requires Ruby version upgrade. I managed to do it with preinstalled RVM. All the other steps are pretty much the same ad described here.

I am able to finish the upgrade successfully. The app woks, but with some limitations. I am not able to access files, log events, access /settings and /my/account. This should be something with the permissions, but I do not understand what it is. The file permissions and ownership on /files an /log folders seems to be ok. Anyway this should not affect accessing setting pages in Redmine.

Please be so kind and help me solve this. I know 1-click install Redmine is not an option on Digital Ocean anymore, but I am still using it from way back)

Hello,

According to the official documentation, as there have been quite a few new features added to the reposman.rb file, you need to make sure that you have a group specified if you’re having issues ( --group=groupnamehere).

Regarding the /log and /tmp directories, you need to make sure that they have write permissions.

I would also recommend going through the official documentation at:

http://www.redmine.org/projects/redmine/wiki/redmineupgrade

Regards,
Bobby
