How can I use DigitalOcean to deploy my practice projects without spending all my money?

I want to deploy several projects which require database access. I would like to know how to do it in a way that they’re primarily for recruiters and clients to see. I do not need a lot of bandwidth or even for it to be permanently online. I want to be able to show my portfolio projects to get a job and that’s mostly it.
