Please publish the DigitalOcean public IP ranges

Posted on March 27, 2014

Other cloud providers regularly publish the public IP address ranges that can be assigned to customer virtual machines. This information is required if a company wishes to control outgoing connections from its intranet.

Please don’t do this (publish public IP ranges). Or at the very least can you withhold some that you don’t publish and allocate them specifically to me?

DO servers are the WORST SPAMMERS

I have a non-DO cloud server and I am getting BULK intrusion detection EVERY Day from Digital Ocean servers.

My server blocks automatically after 5 failed logins, but I just get so SICK of seeing the reports that I have been manually blocking the entire 24 bit address range of each new attack.

But even that is not enough, I still get multiple NEW intrusions daily…

I reported the first dozen or so to DO with no response.

Now I’m blocking the 16 bit address range (chunks of 65.000 IP addresses) of every DO IP I see.

For the record… DO attacks occur MORE OFTEN than all other attacks combined.

I know I’m probably also blocking non DO sites now, but Jeez guys, your servers are just infested!!!

The hackers know all your IP,s so don’t worry about giving them an easy in… they already have that. Help the rest of us out.

My server already has blocking by country.
I think CPanel needs to add blocking by Host Company.

Now that you are one of the big cloud hosting solution we need the IP ranges to protect ourself from bots spawning from your hosting solutions…
