Posted on April 23, 2020

Any word on Postgres 12 availability for managed Postgres? I need Postgres 12’s full-text features and loved the managed version of 11.

Managed Databases now supports PostgreSQL 12. In addition to this, we released the capability for in-place major version upgrade that allows you to easily upgrade from one major version to another (e.g. PostgreSQL v11 to PostgreSQL v12). https://www.digitalocean.com/blog/managed-databases-now-supports-postgresql-12

That is a good point! I also hope that this would be available soon!

Hi there,

A quick update here in 2024 in case that anyone comes across this in the future, as PostgreSQL 12 end of life is near, you will no longer be able to create new PostgreSQL 12 Managed Databases.

However, you can still fork existing PostgreSQL 12 clusters until PostgreSQL 12’s end of life on 14 November 2024.
