Reboot Ubuntu Without Logging into Console or Using Control Panel Reboot

Posted on July 25, 2013

Wondering if there is a way of rebooting the server without having to log into the console/terminal.

Reason I ask is that DigitalOcean explicitly says NOT to use the Reboot button in the control panel (um, then why have it there?). However, I don’t always have access to a computer. I have access to an iPad and iPhone, but you can’t emulate console/terminal from them… or can you???

Just wondering.

@Pablo: The API reboot method is the same as the control panel’s. It’s recommended that you reboot the box from the OS.

I personally use Connectbot for Android - great product. I’ve heard Prompt is a good iOS client, give it a shot. “Server Auditor” is free if you don’t want to spend money on an SSH client.
