Hi!
Newbie here, just signed up today and am loving it so far.
I’ve added Gmail’s MX records to my DNS settings page but wonder, does my droplet have to be running in order for me to receive mail? Or will I still receive mail even if the droplet is powered off. I only have one droplet, and it’s tied to the same domain as the email I’m setting up.

Yep, the Droplet has to be running for it to send or receive any type of data. Equate shutting down the Droplet to closing the entrances to a building. <br> <br>Nothing can go in unless they are open. <br> <br>So keep the Droplet running if you wish to receive email. Whether it’s running or not, you’re paying for it anyway.
Got it! <br> <br>In that case I’ll just keep it running as an email receiver all day, lest I miss out on any emails. Since like you said, it’s already paid for anyway. <br> <br>Thanks finid.
Are you using Google apps for business? <br> <br>If that’s the case, as long as the mx record resolve, all your mail will go to Gmail server not your droplet.
