Redesigning website with duplicator plugin

Posted on September 6, 2021

Hi

I am hosting a WordPress website on DigitalOcean which hasn’t been updated for a long time. I did a redesign of the website on an offline server and want to upload it to the online version.

I thought of using the Duplicator Plugin and I would do as follows:

I install the duplicator plugin on the live website I import the offline version of the website to the live version using the import function in the plugin

Is there anything I need to take into account? Database, FTP and so on?

I have read that people have problems migrating to DigitalOcean with the duplicator plugin, when they change hosts. Note: I am already hosting the website on digital ocean.

Thanks in advance

No one can answer? It’s a pretty straight forward question

Hello,

I would recommend following the steps here on how to migrate a WordPress website to a DigitalOcean droplet with no downtime:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-migrate-wordpress-from-shared-hosting-to-a-cloud-server-with-zero-downtime

I will also recommend the All-in-One WP Migration plugin. The plugin will update the references for you during the import and will take care of the whole process. The Duplicator plugin is also a good alternative, however, I will recommend using the All-in-One WP Migration plugin.

Hope that this helps! Regards, Alex
