Question

Reserved IP: DNS PTR

Hello, Currently, the PTR records are automatically created for the FQDN droplet names. But, it seems the PTR is created for the auto-assigned public IP. How can I set the PTR record for the reserved ip?

Thanks!

Hey @vookimedlo,

Looking at the DigitalOcean docs - Reserved IPs do not support PTR (rDNS) records.

You can check more about the IP limits here:

Another thing you can do is post it as an idea in the ideas board

https://ideas.digitalocean.com/

Hope that helps! - KFSys.

Heya, @vookimedlo

DigitalOcean automatically sets the PTR (reverse DNS) record for Droplet-assigned public IPs based on the Droplet’s hostname.

However, Reserved IPs do not support PTR (rDNS) records.
