Hi,
I don’t know how to do that. I have a client that are thinking to change their Baremetal Dedicated Server to one DigitalOcean Droplet.
Actually when one client wants to change/move servers I make a tar.bz2 of all system and restore in the new one server with help of support people.
I’m using this tutorial to make/restore backup: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BackupYourSystem/TAR
And works very well.
But, how can I accomplish this without a full droplet installation?
Thanks, Victor

Hi kamaln7,
Yes, I read it few days ago and don’t match with my question. I have one tar.bz2 file and I can’t decompress in a newly created droplet because it fails when reboot ( i know, i changed fstab and some other configurations). But finally always do a segment fault. This tutorial is long and very complex to follow instead of using tar system that is easy and quick.
If i could reboot droplet like a ubuntu live cd will be easy restore and reboot.
Thanks, Victor
