Restored Droplets from snapshots won't boot; can't mount primary partitions

I’ve got two snaphots of CentOS machines, taken a little more than a year apart from each other. Each snapshot was created after a clean shutdown was performed on the VPS. Neither boots and neither has a system partition (/dev/vda1) that can be mounted using the recovery ISO.

Support has done little apart from facilitate the mounting of the recovery ISO. No advice that was particularly insightful, no “Oh yeah, this happens from time to time, here’s how we fix that.”

I understand that each user is in charge of administering his/her own droplet. Honest, I get it. But what I don’t understand is why the backup solution I’ve been provided with doesn’t work, why I’ve been charged (an admittedly small rate) for said solution, and why I shouldn’t go elsewhere with my hosting dollar?

Just wanna add that this happened to me today on 2021, given the apparent silence from DO support when it comes to this issue and the only way of fixing it being the Recovery ISO, I won’t even try posting a ticket, its infuriating that this happened while I was using a service I was being charged for (snapshot) and could’ve probably gotten better results doing it manually.

Was using snapshots to save time and now here I am, more than an hour into trying to solve this issue, about to just give up and recover from an almost week old backup, a real shame

Did you ever get this resolved, or find out why?
