I wish to transfer quite a bit of files from 1 droplet to another in the same region. Is there anything like ftp for ubuntu console?

You could use sftp from the console to transfer files. Checkout https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-use-sftp-to-securely-transfer-files-with-a-remote-server
Another option is rsync. It’s great for moving large amounts of data as it lets you do things like resume interrupted transfers and add compression on the fly.
