Heya,
It’s possible during the Service Unavailable issue you have seen for there to have been an outage. When that happens you can check the Status page here:
Hi there,
the “Service Unavailable” error could be caused by different issues, here are a few common reasons and troubleshooting steps:
On the $5 plan, there might be resource constraints such as CPU, RAM, and I/O limits. If your application or service is utilizing a lot of these resources, the server might become unresponsive, leading to a “Service Unavailable” message. You can check server resource usage via monitoring tools like top, htop, or using DigitalOcean’s monitoring and alerting features.
Check your server error logs. If you’re using a web server like Apache or Nginx, they’ll have error logs that can provide clues about what’s causing the service to become unavailable.
/var/log/apache2/error.log/var/log/nginx/error.logDatabase Issues: If your application relies on a database, ensure the database isn’t the bottleneck. Connection issues, long-running queries, or maxed-out connections can all cause service disruptions.
If you are running out of memory for example, you could consider adding more RAM to your Droplet and also creating a swap file:

Let me know how it goes!
