Setting up VMs on Droplet to work properly with ServerPilot?

Hello All,

I’m currently using (and loving) a Digital Ocean Droplet(VPS) with ServerPilot to host my WordPress sites. However, I have run into an issue. I cannot have multiple websites on my Droplet because of the one IP address.

So I was advised to create VMs within my Droplet so that I can host multiple sites. The challenge I am having is how I should set those VMs up. There are two guides for Digital Ocean, one to setup a VM for Apache and one for Nginx.

From my understanding, ServerPilot utilizes both Apahce and Nginx. This is where my question comes in… should I be setting up the VMs with Apache or Nginx? I do want to utilize Nginx because it seems soooo fast, but I also don’t want to jack up my server.

Please help!

Thanks, Seth

You can use virtual hosts like kamaln7 says to run multiple websites.

However, I have run into an issue. I cannot have multiple websites on my Droplet because of the one IP address.

And you say you only have one IP for your server, so I suggest you would like to have more. However this not possible with DigitalOcean. You get one IP for each droplet.

Hi!

Take a look at this tutorial:

It looks like ServerPilot makes it much easier to host multiple WordPress websites on a single Droplet. I’ve never used ServerPilot before but it should handle creating the virtual hosts for both Apache and Nginx for you.
