To setup nameservers and A records for my domain, should I use:
Both Namecheap and DigitalOcean have the ability to set A records and Nameservers. But which should I use?

Hi there,
You can use either, but the most common setup is to keep your domain registered with Namecheap and manage DNS directly in DigitalOcean.
Just point your Namecheap nameservers to DigitalOcean’s (ns1.digitalocean.com, ns2.digitalocean.com, ns3.digitalocean.com). That way, you can easily link A records to your droplets and manage everything from one place.

You can use either, but my suggestion is to control your DNS from DigitalOcean since your app is on DigitalOcean.

You can use both, but since your application is hosted with DigitalOcean, it will be easier to manage the DNS with DO as well. You can check our docs on how to manage DNS here:
