SSH login prompts install of Discourse - how to bypass a reinstall?

I installed Discourse via a droplet over the weekend for http://entjforum.com, upgraded the Discourse version, ran the import script and rebuilt the app. I entered SMTP settings for the gmail server, which is what I am using for my mail server. All was good in the world.

Then I got a remote login alert from Google (it was probably just my SMTP settings being used?), and incorrectly assumed that my account had been hacked, so I changed my password .

Then I got a personal email from a user saying he couldn’t reset his password, and realized my error and tried to quickly log on to the server and edit the app.yml file to change my email settings with the new password.

However, anytime I attempt an SSH login, after my credentials are accepted, I get prompted to install Discourse. I don’t want to install it again, because I have no idea what will happen to my previous install, upgrades, imports etc.

Does anyone have any idea how I can simply SSH into my Digital Ocean account/droplet and edit the app.yml file and rebuild the app?

This is an interesting problem and luckily one that can be easily solved.

First, when you log in, you can press Ctrl+C to kill the script prompting you without it performing any actions and this should drop you back to the command line.

Second, check ~/.bashrc as it likely has a line launching the setup script still in place that can be removed to prevent this.
