Sudden WordPress White Screen of Death

Posted on August 30, 2014

Hey all. I’m using Ubuntu 14.04 and just started building my first WordPress site. I got LAMP and WordPress installed and was able to access my admin panel. I tried to upload a theme that I bought, and was asked to enter SSH credentials. I followed this DigitalOcean guide: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-configure-secure-updates-and-installations-in-wordpress-on-ubuntu

Immediately, I got the white screen of death. In the console, I cd’d into the wp-content/themes folder, assuming its upload was responsible, but it’s not in there. All the keys appear to be in the right place. I went through the tutorial exactly as it’s written. Any ideas?

Thanks so much. I look forward to becoming a part of this community.
