Question

Trouble accessing domain after installing Let's Encrypt SSL (Error 500)

Hi all, I have installed the SSL cert as per digital ocean’s tutorial.

However I am not able to access my site and it’s currently returning error 500.

Below are the only error that I found on my logs: [Thu Jul 28 07:40:11.803247 2022] [access_compat:error] [pid 49387] [client 121.103.225.127:40956] AH01797: client denied by server configuration: /var/www/wordpress/external.php

Would greatly appreciate it, if anyone could guide me to the right direction.

Hi there,

I believe that you would need to add the following to your Apache virtual host:

<Directory "/var/www/wordpress">
   Order allow,deny
   Allow from all
   Require all granted
</Directory>

After that make sure to run a config test with sudo apachectl -t and if you get Syntax OK, then restart apache with sudo systemctl restart apache2.

Let me know how it goes!

Best,

Bobby
