Hello,
I purchased a domain name via Fasthosts and then setup a Digital Ocean droplet and configured the DNS records on my Droplet and can view my website in the browser.
I’m not able to receive email anymore having done the above. I’m under the impression I need to attach my Fasthosts mail server to my Droplet MX record. I can’t get it to work though.
The DNS records currently setup on my Droplet are:
| Type | Hostname | Value |
|----------|----------|
| A | www.mydomain.co.uk | directs to ip...
| A | mydomain.co.uk | directs to ip...
| NS | mydomain.co.uk | directs to ns1.digital...
| NS | mydomain.co.uk | directs to ns2.digital...
| NS | mydomain.co.uk | directs to ns3.digital...
I did try it with the following added, taken from the Fasthosts site - Step 4 “Your Email” to get the mail server working but still no luck…
| Type | Hostname | Value |
|----------|----------|
| A | mail.mydomain.co.uk | directs to mail server ip...
| MX | mail.mydomain.co.uk | mail handled by mail.mydomain.co.uk

Hi there,
Usually it might take 24 hours or so for the DNS cache to clear over the Globe before you could see the new records.
Also, on another note, have you setup an email server on your DigitalOcean Droplet that could handle your emails? Are you planning to host your emails with Fasthost or with DigitalOcean?
Best,
Bobby
