use dnsimple nameservers

Posted on May 14, 2017

Hi, my domain is resolving with DNSimple’s name servers, and all of my NS records point to the four ns<1-4>.dnsimple.com. name servers, and I have an A record that directs to my website’s Digital Ocean IP, but this doesn’t appear to be enough. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @digitalvapor

If you check your domain, it’s NS-records are set to nsX.dnsimple.com. That means you need to mange your regular records (A, CNAME, MX, TXT, …) on DNSimple - not on DigitalOcean.

You can remove all the records in DigitalOcean, so you don’t make a mistake at one time.

If you want to use DigitalOcean as the DNS provider, then you need to change the Name Servers to ns1.digitalocean.com and ns2.digitalocean.com - you do this at your domain registrar (which looks like it’s www.enom.com )

Awesome, thanks @mnordhoff and @hansen! I changed the NS records in both DNSimple and Digital Ocean’s DNS Record sections to say ns<1-3>.digitalocean.com. All settings are same otherwise. What else should I check?
