Hi @digitalthinkingt,

As already said, DigitalOcean Managed Databases do not support MySQL 5.7. Here you have two options basically, to use DigitalOcean’s Managed Database MySQL version 8 and so on OR you can create a droplet and manually install the needed version.

The decision should be purely based on what you are going to use the Database for and if you are able to use a higher MySQL/MariaDB version or not. If you are able to use it then I would recommend a higher version IF you are not able to use a newer version then the Droplet choice is always a good decision.

Hola @digitalthinkingt,

Concretamente porqué necesitas que sea la versión 5.7? Igual puedes optar por otra versión más actualizada y compatible con tu app.

Un saludo, Sergio Turpín

Hi @digitalthinkingt,

Unfortunately for our managed MYSQL database we only support MySQL 8 and there’s no workaround. If you require MySQL 5.7 then you can use our droplet service.

Please check out our awesome tutorials for Installing MySQL in droplet : https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorial_collections/6

I hope this helps!
