What happens if you loose your ssh key?

Posted on September 24, 2013

I was reading that it is possible to accept only the ssh key for root (and I guess other users). Which seems to be more secure than just the password.

However, given that this is a file, what happens if I loose the file?

Thanks

you log in via the console using your password and add a new key

Don’t lose it.
(If you do, use the VNC console to login as root, enable password auth and then copy your new public key from your new keypair over, set it back to publickey auth only, done)
