Why am I being charged $14 when adding a payment method if I should receive $200 credit?

When I try to add a payment method, it asks me to pay $14. Do I still get the $200 credit even after this charge?

Hey,

The $14 is usually a temporary verification charge when adding a payment method. It’s used to confirm the card is valid and is typically refunded or applied to your account balance.

You should still receive the $200 promotional credit if your account is eligible. If the charge doesn’t get reversed or you don’t see the credits applied, it’s best to reach out to DigitalOcean support so they can check your account.

Heya, @zeyadhassan

You can check the docs as well:

https://docs.digitalocean.com/platform/billing/manage-payment-methods/

“We may send a preauthorization request to the issuing bank to verify that the bank issued the card and can authorize charges. These temporary preauthorization holds may appear on your statement for up to 7 days, but you are not being charged and no funds are being transferred from your card or account to DigitalOcean.”
