Why can I not connect to certain websites when I'm on my Wireguard VPN?

I have a Wireguard VPN with the peer in my droplet. Whenever I am on my VPN and try to connect to xda-developers I get this message:

This site can’t be reached

The webpage at https://www.xda-developers.com/build-airplay-receiver-using-raspberry-pi/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Also, with the VPN up when I try to read a blog on comicsands.com I get this message:

Error 403 Forbidden

Forbidden

Error 54113

Details: cache-sjc10041-SJC 1712660411 2795552119

Varnish cache server

When I bring the VPN down, there is no problem. Anyone know why this should happen, and how I can fix it?

Indeed, the error messages that you are getting mean that there might be restrictions set by the owners of the websites, which are preventing you from accessing the site.

There is not much you can do on your side as the restriction is set explicitly set by the vendor.

You could try spinning up a Droplet in another region to see if the problem persists.

If the issue persists, your best bet would be to again reach out to website support team through their official support channels (e.g., email, contact form on their website) and provide them with the details you’ve shared here. They should be able to assist you with resolving the access issue if it fits their policy.
