Why do I have to add the ssh keys in 2 places?

It seems I have to login to digital ocean to add it, then I have to use ssh-copy-id to add it. Why do I have to do both? Is there a simpler way when managing a changing team of 6 or so people?

For an already existing VPS adding a SSH key to DigitalOcean will not affect it.

You don’t need to add the SSH key to DigitalOcean unless you need it for creating a new droplet. You only need to change your authorized SSH key file on your server.

You don’t have to add it twice. When you provision the droplet you are able to select which SSH keys will be written to your authorized_keys file, so you don’t need to copy those.
