60-day free trial requires valid credit card

Posted on May 2, 2020

Hi. I used the service “$100, 60-day free trial requires valid credit card” by the link, but received an invoice. I used about a week and on May 1st my card was charged for those days. Why so?

Hi @Legnum ,

Usually, the $5 is added to your account balance, you can find this by checking your profile billing page. That’s mean, the charge used for verification won’t be returned.

Hi, @Legnum

When you add a credit card to your DigitalOcean account, we may send a preauthorization request to the issuing bank. This is to verify that the card being added has been issued by the bank and that they will authorize the charges. These temporary preauthorization holds range from $1 to $15 and may appear on your statement for up to 7 days, but no funds are being transferred from your card or account to DigitalOcean.
