Honestly, the automatic backups don’t happen with near the frequency I’d expect. Sometimes I’ve seen the system go as long as 72 hrs before another automatic backup is done. I think this is a great failure of DigitalOcean, you should be able to do backups as frequently as every 6 hours.

Well I created servers 5 days ago, and turned on autobackup, have not seen anything yet :( also my bill has not changed for days, maybe I need to re-evaluate DO as hosting place.

Automatic Backups are done via the backend scheduler on various timing mechanisms which we are still adjusting so there isn’t a set specific time when they are taken per virtual server. <br> <br>They do not shutdown the server when they are taken. <br> <br>Destroying a server that had backups enabled will also then destroy the associated backups that were taken from that virtual server.
