I’m interested in purchasing a $5 month droplet for myself but am confused about cost. I have read the docs but thought I’d ask the community for clarification. I know that $5 droplets come with 1000 GB free each month but when we go over that amount do we have to pay?

Hello @jamiec ,
Droplets include free outbound data transfer, starting at 1,000 GiB/month for the smallest plan. Excess data transfer is billed at $0.01/GiB. For example, the cost of 1,000 GiB of overage is $10. Inbound bandwidth to Droplets is always free.
I hope I’ve helped :)
Cheers, Sergio Turpín
Hi @jamiec,
As @sergioturpin mentioned, excess data transfer is billed at $0.01/GiB. For example, the cost of 1,000 GiB of overage is $10. Any data transfer sent by a Droplet using a public network interface will count against the transfer pool for that Droplet’s account. All IPv6 traffic uses the public interface. Data transfer between Droplets over the VPC network uses a private network interface.
If you want to read more about this, you can always check the documentation on bandwidth here:
Hope that helps, KFSys
