Bandwidth Pooling

Posted on April 28, 2013

So in many cases especially with cloud there are a few front end servers and multiple backend servers.

Is there any chance (in the future) that all bandwidth is pooled on the account rather than per node.

Such a case is a Load Balancer -> Web -> DB

The web and db servers will rarely see public traffic and the load balancer will do everything. However the load balance may be running on a small instance and will only get the 1TB of transfer each month while I have an extra 10 TB not being used between the web and db servers. And my monthly transfer is a lot more than the 1TB.

I see it was answered in the above thread, but can you please clarify that this is in fact happening?

And also a way to view how much bandwidth we have used (dosnt need to be accurate down to the second/minute but to the hour would be nice)

FYI for others, filed a ticket and they said bandwidth is pooled to the account and not the node. That being said its node bandwidth/hours active, which is to be expected!

On another note support responded fast!

DigitalOcean will not pool transfer caps across all droplets in an account. Each droplet will have its individual transfer cap.
