browsing internet from the VPS, remotely

Posted on August 13, 2014

I d like to sign up for VPS. I travel a great deal, including overseas. I wish to log in using a tool such as Hamachi, or similar, from my mac. Access my files, and so on. I wish to browse the Internet from the VPS server, with a static IP address appearing as the browser IP – assumedly of course your IP address, allocated to me. (it can change from time to time no problem) Part of the reason for this is to have an IP address that is recognized by Google, by my bank, by other sites that I use that like to have the same IP address, and one located in the United States. For example, ebay, Amazon, Bank of America would see me as at ……. Ip address, of the VPS.

Two questions:-

  • Above is technically OK?

  • Not trying to be negative at all, but need to ask presumably the IP address I would be allocated is NOT listed as a ‘network sharing device’ or ‘proxy server’ blah blah? This would not work

This is not about running a torrent etc – quite the opposite, my bandwidth utilization as above will be very low.

Of course, I would be responsible for all technical set up. (There is nothing in your configuration that would make the above very difficult?)
