Posted on December 16, 2019

Now that ZFS on root is included within 19.10 Ubuntu distribution, can I configure a droplet with ZFS?

After asking internally, 19.10 ZFS changes are largely related to the installer, so our existing Ubuntu 19.10 image can’t be configured with ZFS.

However, I would recommend you request a ZFS configured Ubuntu 19.10 image on our product idea request board: ideas.digitalocean.com - and we’ll notify you of any updates to availability.

Lastly, you might be able to use custom images to upload an Ubuntu 19.10 ZFS image but it will likely require some work to configure correctly, you can see in the docs that we only officially support EXT3 or EXT4 filesystems. https://www.digitalocean.com/docs/images/custom-images/#image-requirements
